FAQs
Unlike other loofahs or scrubs, the unique fabric literally grabs and sloughs off dead skin cells from the skin’s surface and simply rolls it off, revealing fresh, healthy skin underneath.
The Dermasuri mitt assists in reducing the build up of dead skin, which create blotchiness and a dull texture. The mitt is for a deeper scrub that effectively helps remove dead skin cells, working more effectively than the average loofah and gets to deeper layers more quickly than expensive scrubs or exfoliating peels.
For optimal results (i.e., visibly see dead skin cells), follow instructions exactly.
Soften your skin with water only: Go into the shower, bath or steam for 5-10 minutes. Do not apply any soaps or lotions to the body. The fabric relies on friction. Soaps/lotions create a film which make the skin surface too slippery for the fabric to grab the skin.
Step away from water: Turn off the shower and squeeze away excess water from the mitt, leaving mitt slightly damp. Move yourself out of the water. Avoid drying yourself off and make sure that your skin remains moist. Begin to rub the glove up and down your body using long and firm strokes.
Remove layers of dead skin: Begin to rub the glove up and down your body using long and firm strokes. Exfoliate using vigorous, upward and downward strokes until you see dead skin cells roll away. Repeat for each section of your body. The more pressure you apply, the better the results.
Be extra gentle on your sensitive areas. You may notice your skin start to peel after a few minutes. If this happens, avoid rinsing the peeling skin off your body as these skin particles will aid in further exfoliation.
Moisturize once you have achieved your desired level of exfoliation, rinse your body with water to wash away the skin particles. Dry yourself off and apply your favorite body oil or moisturizer.
The amount of exfoliation depends on skin type and body area. Some may exfoliate microscopically whereas others will visibly see dead skin roll away.
The skin has cycles where some days you exfoliate more than others. DO NOT USE SOAP OR OILS PRIOR. The mitt requires friction. Soaps and shampoos make it too slippery for the mitt. We recommend that you start with a 5-10 minute soak in just hot water (no bath salts, bubble bath, oil or suds). The soak will help soften the skin and also remove any lotions or creams previously on skin.
Recommended use once every 2-4 weeks and replace mitt every 6 months, or as needed.
Wash with soap and water. Line dry. Do not machine wash.
Yes, it’s perfectly normal for your skin to temporarily turn red after scrubbing. This is due to increased blood circulation. It should return to its normal state within a few minutes. If it doesn’t, try scrubbing with less pressure the next time.
